The Hao cheongsam (qipao) is a show-stopping fusion of traditional Chinese craftsmanship and contemporary bridal glamour, designed for the bride who wants to make an unforgettable entrance.
Crafted in a rich red satin, the gown features a structured high mandarin halter collar fastened with a traditional hand-knotted Chinese frog button, paired with a sheer illusion mesh centre-front panel that runs from the neckline to the bodice. The qipao creates a subtle, refined keyhole effect without revealing too much.
The front is adorned with large-scale silver and ivory 3D floral embroidery, oversized magnolia and cherry blossom motifs hand-embellished with freshwater pearls and crystal rhinestones, cascading asymmetrically from the chest to the hip. The back is equally dramatic, featuring a full sheer illusion mesh back panel framed with matching silver floral embroidery, and a striking column of deep red jewelled buttons running the length of the spine.
The gown cuts into a fitted mermaid silhouette before flaring into a sweeping cathedral-length train, its centrepiece a large, intricately embroidered white peacock in full plumage, surrounded by oversized florals that extend to the very edge of the train. The phoenix, a Chinese symbol of beauty, elegance, and good fortune, makes this gown truly one of a kind.
This cheongsam (qipao) is named after Lady Fu Hao, a highly influential Shang Dynasty figure who served as both a military general and high priestess. She led thousands of troops into battle, as recorded on ancient oracle bones.
